Technology Day

Today was our second time in the technology room. Some children went to Mrs Green and some of us went to Mr Didier. We were very busy and interested in what we were learning as you can see from the photos.

Cultural Performance

After weeks of practising it was time for our cultural performance. Our families and friends were invited to the performance. It took place in our school hall. It started at 6.00pm and finished at 8.00pm. The children in Room 24 belong to different cultural groups. We can choose to be in the Maori, European, Indian, Cook Island, Samoan, Tongan or Asian group. The Maori group started the evening's performance with a haka. All the dancers looked lovely in their colourful and beautiful costumes. Some children received monies from their families during the show. The audience enjoyed watching the performance. They cheered for their children.

Caterpillars

During our lunchtime we help to take care of the plants growing in our school garden.
We remove any weeds and water the plants. Can you spot the caterpillars on the plants?

Dr Rabbit

Dr Rabbit was our special guest at our school assembly on Friday. He reminded us to take care of our teeth. Dr Rabbit asked the children questions and he gave out cool prizes to children who answered them correctly. Remember that having too much sugary foods and drinks are not good for our teeth.

School Assembly

Team 6 hosted the school assembly today. After singing the national anthem it was Room 24's item. When Rosemariah and Douglas announced our item, we went on stage. My friends and I were excited because we were practising very hard for our dance performance called Kung Fu Fighting. We had to get into four lines. I felt a little nervous. When our dance was finished everyone clapped and our teacher was proud of us.

A wet lunchtime

Lunchtime had just begun and I heard the three bells ringing. The children had to stop playing and go back into their classrooms. Some of us went to the Asian dance practice. Catherine read a big book called Simon Says to the children. It was about wild animals. We asked her questions about the book. The boys played board games. The children remembered to follow the rules on a rainy day. I missed playing outside.

Student Teachers

We are lucky to have two student teachers from the University of Auckland. They are Miss Teresa Vollmer and Mr Tipene Walters. They will be in our class for one week and watch us learning. Catherine was happy to meet Teresa because they go to the same church. We hope to be good students and that Miss Teresa and Mr Tipene will learn lots in Room 24 about becoming a teacher.

Sending an email

We learnt how to send an email to Mrs Williamson. We can send a letter called an email. Email is short for electronic mail. Emails are sent from computer to computer along the telephone lines.
DID YOU KNOW? Emails can move from one place to another in a few seconds.
