Evolution of Dance

Wednesday was a big day for the children of Otahuhu Primary school because it was our Evolution of dance concert. Room 24's dance style was disco and we danced to the music of Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees. Disco dancing became popular in the 1970's. This dance consists of steps and moves performed to the beat of disco music. John Travolta made disco dancing popular in the movie "Saturday night fever".
The girls wore shiny dresses and the boys wore black pants, white shirts and a bow tie. Everyone looked awesome. A huge crowd of parents came to watch their children dance.

Swimming Lessons

Our class went for swimming lessons to the Panmure lagoon pools. We went on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. We travelled by bus with children from rooms 2 and 16. Our teachers had to put us into groups according to our swimming skills. Each group had their own swimming instructor. We learnt how to be confident in the water. Some children used boards to help them to float and kick. Everyone had fun learning how to swim. We are now going to be expert swimmers in our school pool.
